System locks files when I delete/copy/move etc.
Hi, I have Windows 7 x64 RC. When I make a file process, the system locks and says "you need permission". I downloaded LockHunter for 64-bit. When I right-click the file and select"What is locking this file", it says "System" and shows its path. The path is always locked file. So, system locks that file. I can't set permissions while the file locked, it says "Access Denied". This my 2nd installtion of Win7 and in past, that was the same. Sorry for my bad English, thanks...

@TheGozoIsIn I already turned UAC off after I installed Win7. @Robinson Zhang Seems it happens on almost exes, not that others. I installed a game's patch and system locked all exes in the folder. :@ I think windows defender checks new executable files. I have a antivirus but I don't use it since I recognize this thing happens. I will turn off WinDefender and report the news. Thanks...

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 beta. Same thing happens in KIS 2009 too. And I disabled it after I recognized this problem. I uninstalled that anti-virus but system locks files still. I think this is a bug or there is a software and its name may be "AppLocker/ApplicationLocker" in the Win7. Thanks...

Actually there is a feature called AppLocker in Windows 7. It is the functional successor of Software Restriction Policies. AppLocker allows you to specify what software is allowed to run on a user's PCs through Group Policy.Did you play with this feature? You can block every application and then whitelist what is allowed to run. If you just did that, then no application can run on your system right now.Ray

I didn't do it but maybe a software could did it before (Ex: From My Downloads). How can I check it and fix it? EDIT: I found a topic: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7844-applocker-create-new-rules.html When I try to delete/run a locked file, a screen comes (not a messagebox) and says "You need to have permission to do this, contact to your administrator" (sorry for my bad english). It is similar as this pic: http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/8919d1240691527-applocker-create-new-rules-enforced_rule.jpg EDIT2: I did some steps and now my options are looks like this: http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/8891d1240681670-applocker-create-new-rules-step2b.jpg I checked but I don't think the AppLocker was enabled so. When I was on "Enable Application Identity Service" step, I saw my Application Identity was disabled. And when I was on "Create the default rules of AppLocker" step, I saw there is no rules for AppLocker. Now AppLocker will Allow everything, but I don't think my problem solved... EDIT3: BTW, I said, "This is my 2nd installtion", I made a fully clean format and backed up some files. Then I installed Win7x64 again.

Hi, I suspect the issue is caused by incorrect GP settings. Could you please take following steps to check it? 1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc in Start Search bar, and press Enter. 2. Negative to Computer Configuration> Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>Security Options 3. "User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for standard users:" change it to "Prompt for credentials". 4. "User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrator in Admin Approve Mode" change it to "prompt for consent for non-Windows binaries". Then, restart the computer. Does it work?

Thanks. "User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for standard users:" was "Prompt for credentials" already but "User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrator in Admin Approve Mode" was "Elevate without prompting". I changed it to "prompt for consent for non-Windows binaries". It seems working now, but I will wait for 2 days, if it works, I will mark your post as answer...

Unfortunately, your solution worked a few days. I downloaded Steam (For info: http://store.steampowered.com/ ). No way to download updated steam. You must download the steam and steam will update itself. When it try to update itself, says some message like these: "Steam.exe deleted but still there is Steam.exe", "SteamNew.exe writing error" etc. etc. I used lockhunter again, and I saw "THE SYSTEM LOCKS FILES!". I completely uninstalled KIS 2010 and all something like that!!!! WHY THE SYSTEM LOCKS FILES!!!!!! I DIDN'T SEE THAT IN VISTA! I WISH THIS BUG WILL BE FIXED IN NEWER WIN7 VERSION! :@@@ :@@ :@@ @@ :@ @ :@ @ :@@@ :@ @ @ :@@ @ :@@@@ :@ @ :@ @ :@ @@ D A M N Thanks... BTW, I will uninstall the Win7 and install the Vista again... EDIT: I can update the Steam in "Safe Mode with Networking". But can't do it in Normal Win.

THE SYSTEM LOCKS FILES, YOU CAN FIND IT ON YOUR TASK MANAGER: Process name="System", Explanation="NT Kernel & System"... I always get this: And can't unlock or delete it! IS HERE THE TECHNET OR UNANSWEREDNET?

OK, I solved my problem. I just reinstalled (formatted) the Win7 and now everything is good. Perhaps something (a virus/trojan/malware etc.) changed something in main system. Thanks... :)))
