System Tray Hide/Show Arrow Missing
Hi, Windows XP Home SP2 All Updates I did a clean install, installed all my programs and then found the arrow on the systray that shows or hides unused icons is missing. Everything else works great. I already check properties and it is still enabled. I disabled it, did a restart, re-enable it, did another restart with no change Can anyone tell me how to re-install the system tray without a total re-install? Or is there a program available. I tried Norton reg cleaner with no effect. I thing other registry cleaners may clean too much. I looked at the system tray keys I could find, but no settings were obvious. Thanks, Duane

Mannn!!!!, you guys are good. As soon as I logged off the original post, my problem resolved itself. It had been like that for 2 days. I did do a run a chkdsk, but that was a couple of hours ago. Anyways, Any Info on the systray would still be appreciated. Thanks, Duane

Hello Duane, Thank you for posting! As this forum is for Windows Vista networking issues, to collect more information for your questions, the following newsgroup should be better support resource: microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize&cat=en_US_20a99704-5b96-4498-b9d1-a6aed1faa89a&lang=en&cr=US Just for your reference, based on my experience, you may modify the notification area under the following sub-key of registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer Modify EnableAutoTray and set 0 or 1 depending on what you need. 1= Hide 0 = Un-Hide Hope it helps! Thank you for sharing you experience! Regards, Lionel Chen Microsoft Online Community Support
