System Restore does not work? Please help
Restoration was unsuccessful I have tried to restore my system to an earlier time but I keep getting this message???No changes have been made to your computer. System Restore was unable to restore your computer to the specified restore point. Select another restore point and try to perform the restoration again. 1 person got this answerI do too

Have similar problem. While trying to solve a Right Click crashing Explorer which started a week or so ago, I have run the following. Norton AV - No virus found Malwarebytes - No virus found Windows Defender - No Virus found on C: drive but program crashed before issuing a final report after scanning my 2nd HD Have tried System restore to 4 different earlier points but none would complete Tried your suggestion of running under Safe mode but again System restore would not complete. Think I only thing left is to re-install XP and do all the upgrades to SP3 and re-install the other programs. Luckily this is a 2nd PC so only have 6 - 8 programs installed.

You mention Windows Defender and Norton...If you happen to be running Microsoft Security Essentials...it includes a virus scanner and it is not a good idea to run two virus scanners on the same system. Microsoft Security Essentialshttp://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/(Win XP - Vista - 7) If you are only running Windows Defender...that shouldnot be a conflict with Norton. Windows Defenderhttp://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx FWIW.....
