Hi again, you haven't answered my questions though. What kind of problem were you having, that made you decide to reverse your system? You see from your answer,we may figure out,why system restore isn't working.Have you scanned with any security programs,to rule out malware on your system? and if so with which? And i assume that you had no prior problems with system restore not working? Also what security programs do you have on your pc?

To be honest I'm not sure now why I was trying to do a restore. I think that I went into the start menu and changed my startup to the diagnostic startup by error and was trying to go back to restore to normal. I'm not sure at this point. All I knowis that the system restore is on December 23 10:17 and that is not the time that I want to restore to. I have used the system restore several times before and had no problem. i have Norton Anti Virus. I have scanned with this and all is OK

Ok i see now, what you seem to have done is this:You accessed 'msconfig' and altered the start up,to diagnostic, correct?Well you see to have done this, something usually needs to be wrong, that requires a diagnostic.t is always strongly adviced,to back up your system first in case things go wrong. So was your system malfunctioning, before you did that? The fact that you have Nortons Antivirus, and the scans come out clear, does Not mean that your system is free of malware.s this Norton Antivirus the only security program you have?f that is so,it's Not enough by any means. can and will recommend FREE security programs for your pc later,if you ask for them.Ok, Returning to normal To return your computer to its normal startup sequence, take the following steps while in Windows: 1. Click Start. 2. Click Run. The Run window appears. 3. In the Open box, type msconfig and click OK. The System Configuration Utility appears. 4. Check Normal setup,(or Start up)(on the General tab) and click OK. 5. You will be prompted to restart the system. Click Yes. Windows will restart normally. Please try the above steps,to(hopefully) Undo what you did,and see if this solves the problem,HOWEVER,i would first suggest that you go to http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ Disable Norton's 'real time'(auto protect) Antivirus for at least 2 hours, just before you run a scan with EsetMake sure to place a check on 'scan archives' click on the 'advanced settings, check 'scan for potentially unsafe apps'then click Start. After the scan if anything is found, you'll be presented with a list, and asked if you want them deleted.Accept.Then please come back and tell me the results, and we'll take it from there.

I was able to get a system restore finally. I have it set for selective start because I don't want webshots, picture package starting up as it makes the computer too slow and this is what I was told to do by a Bell technician. Is this right or does it make much difference if you have normal instead of selective

Hi, for me to be able to help you effectively, you need to 1.answer all my questions to the best of your ability 2.Perform all the steps i suggest to deal with your problem.and report back the results. So,you were able to do a system restore. Was that after you followed the steps i outlined to return your Start up to normal? Then system restore started functioning again, right? So is your system again stable?Did you do the scan,i recommended, and if so,did it find anything? Whatever the Bell technician told you, i can't comment on at this time, believe that the normal Start up is best. You can check further into this subject http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310560/en-us see what you think
