Is there a setting to adjust the amount of space devoted to System Restore in Windows 7? In XP, up to 12%of the diskspaceis set aside. I don't use this feature and would like to turn it off so that disk space is not saved for this feature.Thanks for any input.

If you are not using System restore then simply turn it off.1/ Click Start, followed by Control Panel2/ In Control Panel, Click the System link3/ In the System Window look to the left of the Windows and Click on System Protection4/ The system protection tab window will open5/ Highlight the drive you intedn to turn system restore off in the protection settings box6/ Now click the Configure button7/ In the next window click on the radio button next to the 'turn system protection off' option8/Next click Apply9/ A message will appear warning you that restore points will be deleted, just click OK10/ Finally click OK again to close the system protection tab window and then close control panel11/ System resore has now been disabled.If you simply want to reduce disk space (not worth the trouble if you don't use system restore) then simply move the slider in the 'disk space usage' section until you have allocated the desired amount of space.John Barnett MVP: Windows XP Associate Expert: Windows Desktop Experience: Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org

I was used to place where System Restore was located in XP. I just couldn't find it on W7. I guess MS thinks that the average person needs to have this feature working, so there is no effect to make it easy to turn off. I would say the average person doesn't know how to use this feature properly, so it's probably a wasted feature.Thanks for the info. I turned it off even though its default only devoted 6 gigs to restore.
