System Image Restore fails with error 0x80780118
Hi, I have a machine with a 256 GB SSD which crashed. I replaced the 256 GB SSD with a 500 GB (and even a 750 GB) HDD. System Backup was setup do a System Image Backup on a second 320 GB HDD. When trying the do a System Image Restore from the 320 GB HDD I get "The recovery volume is smaller than the source volume. Retry the operation with a recovery volume of the same or bigger size (0x80780118).". 500/750 GB is certainly bigger than 256 GB. I then copied the Image Backup to a USB disk, disconnected the 320 GB HDD and tried to restore the system with only a 500 GB HDD and my USB disk attached. Same error. How can I restore the system? Regards, Tom

If the backup was done with Windows 7 backup you may not be able to restore it to any hard drive that is not the same size as the one the system was installed on. Windows 7 backup expects to put the image on the same size drive. Also, there could be information about the SSD that won't allow it to be restored to a hard drive. Acronis backup will allow you to move to a different size and type hard drive. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
