System Error The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. (0x80073B01) and CBS Log errors
Dear All, I use Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit version. Yesterday, I tried to use system restore and got the following error message: "There was an unexpected error: The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. (0x80073B01) Please close system restore and try again." I also realized that many windows features have become unresponsive (e.g. Personalization settings). I checked the Windows site and this forum and tried the following: 1. Downloaded Uniblue Register Booster and cleaned up my registry with it. All problems still there. 2. Ran an sfc /scannow command from command prompt. It said that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS Log" which I quote below: 2011-02-10 17:10:27, Info CSI 00000075 [SR] Verify complete 2011-02-10 17:10:28, Info CSI 00000076 [SR] Verifying 100 (0x0000000000000064) components 2011-02-10 17:10:28, Info CSI 00000077 [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction 2011-02-10 17:10:34, Error CSI 00000078 (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #1781063# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile(flags = (AllowSharingViolation), handle = {provider=NULL, handle=0}, da = (STANDARD_RIGHTS_READ|FILE_READ_ATTRIBUTES), oa = @0x17ccd40->OBJECT_ATTRIBUTES {s:48; rd:NULL; on:[122]"\??\C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-a..face-winnt-provider_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_96c134c41f19eca4"; a:(OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE)}, iosb = @0x17ccd20, as = (null), fa = 0, sa = (FILE_SHARE_READ|FILE_SHARE_WRITE|FILE_SHARE_DELETE), cd = FILE_OPEN, co = 0x00004000, eab = NULL, eal = 0, disp = Invalid) [gle=0xd0000034] 2011-02-10 17:10:34, Error CSI 00000079@2011/2/10:15:10:34.517 (F) d:\longhorn\base\wcp\sil\merged\ntu\ntsystem.cpp(1849): Error STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND originated in function Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile expression: (null) [gle=0x80004005] 2011-02-10 17:10:51, Error CSI 0000007a (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #1781062# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::CDirectory::OpenExistingDirectory(...)[gle=0xd0000034] 2011-02-10 17:10:51, Error CSI 0000007b (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #1781061# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::CDirectory_IRtlDirectoryTearoff::OpenExistingDirectory(flags = 0, da = (SYNCHRONIZE), oa = @0x17cd638->SIL_OBJECT_ATTRIBUTES {s:40; on:"amd64_microsoft-windows-a..face-winnt-provider_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_96c134c41f19eca4"; a:(OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE)}, sa = (FILE_SHARE_READ|FILE_SHARE_WRITE|FILE_SHARE_DELETE), oo = (FILE_DIRECTORY_FILE|FILE_SYNCHRONOUS_IO_NONALERT|FILE_OPEN_FOR_BACKUP_INTENT), dir = NULL, disp = Invalid) [gle=0xd0000034] 3. I have also uninstalled my antivirus programme and installed Microsoft Security Essentials just in case this was virus related but it seems it is not - most probably a system failure. What am I supposed to do? Shall I boot from the Windows CD and repair? Will this affect my programmes and files? Thank you in advance for your time!

Shall I boot from the Windows CD and repair? Will this affect my programmes and files? Run an InPlace Upgrade [1][2] to repair your windows Vista. Your programs are still usable after doing the InPlace upgrade. This should repair all missing/damaged files. Hi, This issue can also be caused by conflict with certain driver software. I suggest boot into Safe Mode to test. Start your computer in safe mode http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Dear Magon, thanks for your reply, I have already tried this, the problem is still there even in Safe Mode. Tassos K.

Dear Andre, thanks for your reply, it seems that this may be the only solution. I will give it a try and let you know in a couple of weeks (I am about to finish an important project and I don't want to take any risks). Tassos K.
