System Crashes while trying to remove viruses
On another computer, the anti-virus detected 4 sites of Trojan Horse. I went onto microsoft.com to download the Malicious Virus Software Removal Tool. While the tool is scanning, the computer will crash, and wont let me finish scanning the system. How do I get this to stop, so that I can complete the scan and removal process? I feel there isn't really much I can do to stop this, except keep trying. I have the recovery disks on hand just in case I can't complete the task, but I know I've got to completely remove the virus first. What can I do?

Are you using MSE or just MRT?What is the AV application that detected the threat? These are different applications created by Microsoft.Unless you are using MSE we won't be able to give considerable assistance.Crimson Spectrum at http://aiscer.spaces.live.com

Try to go to safemode with networking and see that can you remove it there or not?turn on PC (or restart it)press F8 on your keyboard repeadly, when you turn on PC, then you will see safemode with networking (along other option)chose that and see whether you can remove it or not?As you describe, I guess you are running Windows XP am I correct? Then if you are not using any Anti-Virus, please go ahead and chose one such as Microsoft Security Essential and make sure you are always running updated Windows and Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware.
