Sync Center wont open for a domain user
Hi I'm logged on as a domain user on a win7 laptop. When I try to open the sync center nothing happens (no event entry neither). When I run it with a runas with admin credentials, it opens up just fine. I tested with sysinternals Filemon but couldn't find any Access denied messages. It's bizar because there are XP laptops in the same OU which run just fine ..... I'm guesing it's a rights issue because as admin it works... Any ideas are welcome! Thanks, Janjgs

Hi Jan, does the issue occur if you create a new user with administrator privilege? What happens if you add the domain user to local admin group?Sean Zhu - MSFT

Hi Sean Sorry for the late reply ... I've now done the following steps: Create a normal local user -> sync center opens without any issue Added the domain users group to the local administrators group -> sync center does not open This is very bizar! jgs

Hi Sean You still got some things I could try ? It can't be that i have to make all my latop users local admin on their laptop so that they can use the offline folder functionality... in XP it just worked like a charm as a normal user Thanks!jgs

I had the exact issue and resolved it. I use "Show only specified Control Panel Items" under User configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Control Panel. "Microsoft.SyncCenter" was listed under the GPO OU, but I made a type-o. (I must have hit the comma instead of period) Once I fixed "Microsoft.SyncCenter" with a period I am now able to open Sync Center under a domain user. If anyone has this issue check the Control Panel first to see if Sync Center is showing up there B
