Surface Pro 2- Black screen after deploying

Hello,

I'm currently using a Windows 2008R2 WDS server and trying to deploy Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit to a Surface Pro 2. I have downloaded the driver pack and injected them into my deployment share. I'm able to pxe boot and choose the Operating system that I want to deploy. After choosing the operating system, it says "Loading Files... IP xxx.xx.xx.xxx, File: \Boot\x64\Images\LiteTouchePE_x64-(5).wim. The progress bar loads completely, then I just get a black screen. No errors, just a black screen. Any advise?

Hi,

Firstly, please check the deployment log to check if it identify this problem:

Before the Image is applied to the machine:

X:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS

After the system drive has been formatted:

C:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS

After Deployment:

%WINDIR%\TEMP\DeploymentLogs

After that, if no reason was found, please try to remove the harware driver you injected for test.

Where would I go to find these logs? The machine I'm deploying to never gets Windows installed on it.

For your situation, I think the location X:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS shoule be useful.

Have you tried remove driver to install Windows for test? If problem persists, I doubt this problem could be cuased by Surface itself limit. Then, it would be better to provide your problem at Surface Forum to verify main suspect.

I've found several log files including "BDD.log" "LiteTouch.log" "Wizard.log" and "ZTIGather.log". Which would be most helpful?
