Sunbelt Vipre
This programloaded fine, and the Action Center as well as the program report that it is doinug well. But is it really? I contacted Sunbelt, and they indicated that they were testing it, but had no support and could not confirm or deny anything. So would I trust that Action Center andthe Vipre report, or do I blow it off and load AVG instead? I guess I wish there was save (hah)) virus to test it out.

I would say that your best bet is to install a fully compatible solution. They can be found at the Windows Team Blog or the Microsoft Security Partners page. If Sunbelt can't confirm or deny that it is fully functional your would be better off safe than sorry. Topic Moved to Security. While i understand that this is about Security Software Compatibility, every other topic about Security software is here. So it should be here as well. Thanks for your understanding. ~Alex T.~Windows Desktop Experience MVP~

VIPER appears to be working fine. It runs and finds the normal web site cookies... so I trust it will find other junk. AVG was such a resource hog and difficult to un-install. At least when I was under XP.I will try KSPY nextRR

Can't argue with that statement, thoughI hate to be switching back and forth....So I was hoping that someone wou;d give some harder info on Sunbelt...

My problem with virus checkers is they never find anything but cookies. I run behind 2 NAT routers. I somehow must be one of those lucky ones who never get hacked?? I have used almost all the free virus checkers out there and a few paid for products with XP. Since I am on DSL and with the phone company DSL router then my own, I just never get hacked.I also run virus checks on ALL files I DL.With XP, I run a few rootkit finders along with the malware programs. They never find anything. At one time I ran 3 virus checkers, on alternate days. No hits. Ran 2 or 3 Rootkit finders and 2 adware/malware programs. Now with VISTA and W7, I run VIPER. On the VISTA box I run COMODO FW-VIRUS. It runs, stops hacks per the assorted FW checkers, Gibson etc. Never finds a virus.I have not installed any adware programs other then VIPER. I will test one of the free adware programs.MS Defender is not running since VIPER turns it off. On this W7 BOX - using the open MS FW for now. Kaspy FW/VIRUS appeared to work well as the FW. No viruses found either. I may put it back later.RR
