Stumped on Symantec Corp 10.2 error
I am trying to use the Symantec Corp AV 10.2 version on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have used Norton Removal to uninstall previous versions and do clean install. I am an administrator on the machine. I have two problems after installing - 1) the SAV control panel will not enable. 2) I get a compatibility driver error message that says the TDI and NDIS drivers are not compatible. This errorruns in a loop that will not allow you to cancel the message. It just keeps reappearing. This is my first installation of Vista on a networked machine and so far it is a little glitchy. Also having major flicker problems with the video, even though it has approved video hardware and a monitor driver. Any thoughts or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I have scanned all the docs I can find but no related help found. Thanks.

Hi! Almost the same here, Some of myusers get this on every reboot. I have talked to Symantec about this, but the gave me the usual "please reboot" and call back. Im running version 10.2.0.199 but I here there is a 10.2.0.276 to download, I will try this one asap. Br Thomas

Apparantly you need to use build number 276 or higher of version 10.2 to not get this error message. I also haven't downloaded it yet - but the solution was available on Experts-Exchange

what directory are you installing it from. the SAV folder will not work - there is a seperate folder on the media/download for vista.

Well, I can't even get rid of my currect version of SAV. I can't uninstall it via appwiz.cpl because it hangs when 'Gathering information'. The Norton removal tool doesn't work, it tells me I have to remove SAV first via appwiz.cpl I have even tried deleting the whole SAV folderfrom C:\Program Files and registry with no success - as there are still SAV services and context menu entries that still seem to be able to scan files and folders when chosen. I am out of ideas on how to remove it, short of a reformat.
