Stuck on MBAM installation
Hey everyone. I've stuck on trying to setup a 3 - server config (as per MS recommendations in the docs) and I'm stuck in two places. The way I'm trying to set it up is as follows. MBAMDataBase - which hosts the databases and reporting and compliance services MBAMAdmin - which would host the Admin console. Template - would host the GPO template (I might move this to one of the above) While trying to setup the database server, I run into two issues. One, the option to select encrypted network communcations during the install is greyed out. I did follow the steps posted here or at least I thought I did. http://danstoncloud.com/blogs/bastien/archive/2011/08/10/mbam-problemes-installation-emplacement-des-logs.aspx Second, the installer prereq fails when trying to install the reporting and compliance services when it checks the SRS on the server. I remember reading somewhere that it has to be configured first but I can't find anywhere on where to configure it to the prereq's satisfaction. To bypass this I just unchecked that option so the installer could just install the databases and configure them and I could go back afterwards and try setting up the SRS manually using those db's to see if that would work. But lo and behold, the installer only allowed me to uninstall and not add any components! It's a brand new product and obviously needs a lot of work yet but perhaps someone can guide me in the right direction or maybe there's access to the beta tester's forum somewhere that might shed some light? THanks everyone! Frostfrostbitte

Open MMC and select Certificate Template and use server. Reuqest new certificate from your CA and once you have it then try MBAM setup again and it will show the thumbprint of the cert. Second, the installer prereq fails when trying to install the reporting and compliance services when it checks the SRS on the server. I remember reading somewhere that it has to be configured first but I can't find anywhere on where to configure it to the prereq's satisfaction. Answer: Yes, SSR should be configured and working. Open ReportingServices Configuration Manager on SQL SSRS server and then make sure you have: 1. database 2. Can access the web services URL 3. Can access Report Manager URL. Manoj Sehgal

try this link to create a certificate to use it with MBAM to encrypt the reporting and the compliance databases. http://microsoftguru.com.au/2011/01/23/an-overview-and-deployment-of-active-directory-certificate-services/ Gaurav Ranjan

THanks for everyone's post. I did eventually get it going with some deep digging and mucking around. I wish there was a more easier, automated process but give MS some time. Hopefully they'll improve on the fit and finish of this product. Thanks, Frostbittefrostbitte
