Both the laptops are in the same home network using the wirless router. Can any one help me out how this problem can be resolved on my Vista box? Is there any patch that I need to install on Vista? This is very annoying and driving me nuts. I can't even watch the photos on picasa web with slideshow as it is very very slow, but not on XP machine. I feel like why did I get Vista box. Hi Ganesh, Do you mean that the download speed of the stream video is very slow, or the playing of the video is not fluent? Are the videos are played in Flash Player or Windows Media Player? If you could see that the video is downloaded properly (the buffer finishes normally), but the playing is slow, the issue should be related to video Codec that is not compatible or the flash player. However, if the buffer speed is very slow, I suggest that you temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall. Then check the performance again. If the issue persists, I suggest that you remove the current network adapter driver and install the latest version. How to remove ============= 1. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter. 2. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device. 3. Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". 4. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. Then, download the latest adapter driver from the manufacturer's website, and install it.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hello Ganesh-I would like to help you solve this problem. Because there are so many variables that could be contributing to your slow streaming speed I cannot give you an exact answer but rather make a few suggestions. I would see if there are any system updates available for your laptop. Also, what connection speed does you ISP provide? If your connection speed is slow, this sometimes makes streaming videos difficult. Another suggestion is to reboot the router and restart your computer. This could work out any kinks that are slowing the streams.Let me know if any of these suggestions help. JeffWindows Outreach Team

Both my laptops, one with XP and other with Vista are connected to same home network wirelessly. I was able to stream videos online without any pauses on XP but where as I need to pause until the buffering completes on Vista.I usually reset the router and reboot the machine, but still the problem persists.Anyways Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I request you to let me know if I can do anything that can resolve the issue. Thanks,Ganesh

Hi Ganesh, I suggest that we find if it is an IE issue, or the Internet connection speed issue. I suggest that you download Firefox and install it for a test. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. If the issue still occurs in Firefox, the issue is caused by the Internet connection speed. We need to find if the router would work properly with Windows Vista. However, if the issue does not occur in Firefox, we will focus on IE. In this case, please follow the steps below to reset IE settings first. 1. Click Start, please type inetcpl.cpl (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter to open the Internet options window. 2. Switch to the Advanced tab. 3. Click the "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" button. 4. Click Reset to confirm the operation. 5. Click Close when the resetting process has finished. 6. Uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option in the Settings box. 7. Click Apply, click OK. If the issue persists, please remove any third party toolbars. If the issue still occurs, please run HiJackThis and paste the log into your post. Please send me the HiJackThis log using the steps below: 1. Please download the Internet Explorer analyzer HijackThis from the following link: http://www.techspot.com/download317.html Please Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability. 2. Save the zip file to your Desktop. 3. Right-click the zip file, choose "Extract All", select the path to save the file (you may leave it as the default value), and then you will receive the extracted file. 4. Double click the extracted file to run HiJackThis. (Note: If there is a notification message, please click OK.) 5. In the HijackThis window, click "Do a system scan and save a log file". (Note: If there is a notification message, please click OK.) 6. HijackThis will scan the system and generate a log file in Notepad. 7. On the log file menu, please click File and choose Save As. Please save the file to the Desktop. 8. Open the log and upload the contents.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hi, Since the issue also occurs with Chrome, it should be a network performance related issue. We do not need to configure any IE add-ons. I noticed that you have McAfee installed. Maybe incorrect McAfee settings cause this issue. I suggest that you disable McAfee temporary, and then check the result. If the issue persists, I suggest that you bypass the router and directly connect the computer to Internet, then check the performance. If it does not occur, you need to check related settings or the compatibility of the router. Additionally, if it is possible, I suggest that you connect this computer to another network, and let us know the result.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hi Arthur,I checked for driver updates for the Dell Wirless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card and they are upto date. Do you still want me to download, remove and then reinstall the drivers again? Also, under Network Adaptors I also see "Marvell Yukon 88e8040 PCI- E Fast Ethernet Controller". I checked for updates and they are up to date.Still I need to try to connect to other network and check, that was mentioned by you in the earlier mail. Will update you once I'm done with this.Prem,Problem still persists. You can go through the above mentioned solutions in the mail thread and check if any of these resolves your problem. Thanks a lot Arthur for your continuing help!Ganesh

Hi Arthur,Apologies for the delayed response. I have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I feel the browsing and streaming of videos is better in IE 8 beta when compared to that of Vista Premium. I have the same wireless router and using the same wireless connection. I feel streaming of windows on windows 7 is far better than vista. However, it is somewhat slow in the Windows 7 operating system. Thanks a lot for your continued Help!Appreciated!!!Thanks,Ganesh
