Strange behavior in Windows 7. sharing any file or folder makes User Folder shared?!!
Hi, We observed a strange behavior in Windows 7 where sharing any folder or file will make User Folder got shared. The case: We started observing that if we make any share, and try to access it from different or same computer. That share is not visible but instead user folder will be shared and visible with full permissions to everyone. And after removing the share in the shared folder or file, User Folder still shared and visible.

Hi, Follow these steps and check if it helps:1. Navigate to users folder.2. Right click on the folder and click Properties.3. Then click the Sharing tab, then click the Advanced Sharing button.4. Uncheck the option “Share this folder” and click OK. You may also refer this link and look for a suggestion by user DBryce. Check if it works for you. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7security/thread/339b78b1-3705-47ac-a6a0-a3faf742a725 Regards,Afzal-Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Hi, Thanks for the reply but this is not the case. User Folder will be shared automatically whenever you make any share on computer. All Folders and files will be visible to who has domain admin rights. <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:1; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-format:other; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:0 0 0 0 0 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-520092929 1073786111 9 0 415 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin-top:0in; margin-right:0in; margin-bottom:10.0pt; margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoPapDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; margin-bottom:10.0pt; line-height:115%;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> Before Sharing any folder Sharing a normal folder reside in Desktop After Sharing

Hi, that article is taking about Public folder sharing. But we observed whenever create any share, User folder will be visible with full premsssions to everyone. I am running a Win 7 Professional in Domain Network. Observation: 1) Sharing any folder will AUTOMATICALLY share User folder. 2) Entire User Folder will be visible to who has domain admin rights. If further information required, please tell me.

Hi. Remove Sharing Wizard option from Control Panel > Folder Options in View Tab at the bottom uncheck Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended). This will allow just Advanced Share and then you can specify the exact folder that you like to share.
