Strange behavior after changing access rights
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits I wanted a program to be only accessible by administrator. So on the *.exe file I removed access for users, left only system and administrators. After this, the program could no longer started, even by administrators. Then I found the following trange things. Same happens to any program if I removed users from access rights The properties menu of the object had taken the form of an MS-DOS shortcut, pointing to its self. Including the MS-DOS icon Administrators can start the program as long as they do such from the command prompt. Adding the users group restores normal operation. Anyone know this bug and have a work around?

This behavior may be caused by UAC. With UAC enabled, you will run any programs with standard user account even you are an administrator. If high privilege is needed, UAC window will pops up and permission is required. Detailed and exact behaviors in this case should depends on the design of the programs. If you would like to prevent any user from running a program, you can try Applocker.
