It seems that stored usernames and passwords no longer works in Vista (XPworks fine).We use this feature to connect to SQL Servers using a particular UID/PWcombination so we dont have to use clear text authentication (i.e. SQLServer Auth).On XP we could create a wildcard domain and UID/PW and save it in "storeduser names and password" then the user could use for example iSQL orEnterprise Manager to connect to the server via windows authentication and it would used the stored credentials.If I try this with Vista it either sends my current domain id/pw OR (ifthe machine is not in a domain) it seems to send NULL instead.Anyone have any ideas on what/where something might be adjusted to fix thisissue ???

I too am experiencing this issue and would like to find a solution. As a consultant I am never homed in any domain and as such this feature made my life much easier. It was like I was authenticated on the domain for ALL my access. This is great time saver please bring it back.

ditto... this happened with my (brief) experience using Vista and appears to be the same with Windows Server 2008. Windows DOES appear to pass the stored credentials when simply browsing network files/folders, but it doesn't apply to applications such as SQL Management Studio. I assumed this was related to SPNs / Kerberos, but I really don't know enough about authentication to know what's really happening. Old topic I know, but still very relevant. I do know one potential workaround is to use the "runas" command when launching SQLMS, but doing so requires that I re-enter my username and/or password every time I launch it... which is lame IMO because it just adds overhead to performing simple tasks.
