Stopping users from manually creating network profiles (Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit)
Hi all, At my place of work, a need has arisen to control the wifi settings on laptops more tightly. Part of this is to prevent users from connecting to non-company wifi networks. Using Group Policy, I've been able to prevent users from creating an ad hoc network. However, I can't seem to find a way to prevent the use of the "Manually create a network profile" option in Manage Wireless Networks. Is there any way I can prevent users from doing this? For reference, the group policy I have in place has the following settings: Use Windows wireless LAN network services for clients Enabled Shared user credentials for network authentication Enabled Hosted networks Enabled Allow user to view denied networks Enabled Allow everyone to create all user profiles Enabled Only use Group Policy profiles for allowed networks Disabled Prevent connection to infrastructure networks Enabled Prevent connection to adhoc networks Enabled Thanks.

Hi, You need to enable Only use Group Policy profiles for allowed networks option, it should block users from connecting to any network but those you specify on the preferred list. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd759204.aspx TechNet Subscriber Support If you are TechNet Subscription user and have any feedback on our support quality, please send your feedbackhere.
