Static IP addresses wiped out, changed to automatically obtained
I would like to believe that Windows XP SP3 updates and patches do not lower one's security settings, but I am beginning to doubt. Since 12-31, all of the user machines here have been updated and some users began to have IP conflicts. When I investigated, I found that many of the machines in my organization had the local area connection settings changed from static IP addresses to automatically obtained. Is it possible that the windows updates changed this? If not, is anyone aware of a worm that will do this? I am at my wits end, having changed the static IPs back on all these machines over the last several days. Thanks to anyone who can provide insight.Peter1 person got this answerI do too
