Startup screen

On Windows 8.0/8.1 systems, when it boots up, it gets to a screen that I call the startup screen. It shows the date/time and usually has that awful striped background.

On most, you just tap a key or click the mouse button and this screen goes away and you are then presented with the user account screen where you enter your password or select a different account to logon with. I've seen this on both domain-joined and workgroup PCs.

But on one system that isn't the case. To get past the first screen you have to press Ctrl-Alt-Del and then you get the second screen where you enter your password. This system is on a domain but I don't think that is the cause since all other domain-joined systems I've seen you just tap or click.

What I want to do is get this system to be like all the others I've seen where you just tap or click to get past that first screen to get to the password screen. Any ideas on why this one is like it is and more importantly how to change it so it's like all the others I've seen?

That screen is also known as the "Lock Screen" and that's why.  So, someone enabled the Ctrl-Alt-Delete requirement on the Lock Screen for that machine.

Run...  Netplwiz.exe  to change that.  On the Advanced tab.  Secure sign-in.  Uncheck:

Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete
