Startup Repair loop after updates
I currently have a laptop that is stuck in a Startup Repair loop. I have attempted to boot into safe mode, as well as use the last known good configuration. Upon selecting these options, it seems as if I am going to get into Windows (I see drivers loading for safe mode, etc.) but then I get a "Windows is loading files..." message instead and the laptop enters Startup Repair. I am told that Windows cannot repair the computer automatically. The Problem Signature 06 is Corrupt Registry. To resolve this in the past, I have just used the RegBackup located in %windir%\System32\config, but the backup files are the same as the corrupt ones. I attempted using System Restore, but am told that this drive is not System Protected. Using Diskpart to change swap the C and D drive convinces Windows that the drive is eligible for System Restore. I have attempted to restore to all 5 points available, but always receive the nondescript message: An unspecified error occured during the System Restore (0x8000ffff) So far I feel like I am running out of options. Does anyone have any more suggestions for me? I wanted to manually uninstall all of the recently installed updates, but don't seem to be able to initialize the list since the OS is not running (using wmic qfe that is). Win 7 Ent x64

Hi, I also assume this is caused by currupted registry hive. Please enable boot logging by F8, then upload the log to Skydirve and post the link here. Also, I suggest you may consider reinstalling Windows 7, this is the easiest way to fix this kind of registry issue. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode Juke Chou TechNet Community Support
