Start Menu problem (recently opened items don't appear)
Hello, For some reason , when I put my mouse on some shortcut , for example Word, it doesn't show my recently opened items on the right side... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/571/unledom.jpg/ **I deleted isShortcut from regedit, two of them.. I think there are 3 overall. Perhaps that's the problem. thx, Sominum

A simple one to check. Right click Task Bar and select Properties. On the Start Menu tab, is there a tick in the Bottom Privacy option "Store and display recently opened items ...." G North MMI

Yep, there is.... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/8/unledmhk.jpg/ Since this problem started after I had deleted the isShortcut from regedit , I assume it has something to do with it... is there any way to restore it? thx, Somnium

If you remember what types of registry entries they were, where they were, and their values, it should be easier than Facebook. So... do you remember? :-)

I'm pretty sure it was : HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile . I've deleted IsShortcut in both of them. I've tried to retore it somehow using these 3 methods : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/104503-recent-items-enable-disable.html but it didn't help...

You could just use the backup you made of your registry before you started to change it. I cannot see the link between these two items and Recent file lists. Inkfile I'm unable to locate in my registry and piffile is related to DOS app shortcuts. What else might you have changed?G North MMI

Unfortunately I can't. I can't find the backup, probably someone erased it. It won't let me restore files because of this. It's not Inkfile , it's Linkfile, with an L. Here, I captured it : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/28/unlediu.jpg/ Now besides these changes , I haven't done anything else. Although... I've been trying to remove the shortcut arrow sign from the icons, and I downloaded some registry , but then I downloaded the other registry that put them back to the way it was, so... But that's it, haven't done anything else.. Thanks you, Somnium Edit : I solved it. I restored ISShortcut for lnkfile and piffile and it worked. Thank you very much for your help. Somnium.

Glad your sorted. Linkfile doeas make more sense. Classic never occured to me it was an L even though Lnkfile makes a whole load of sense.G North MMI
