Standby mode (sleep) is this normal?
When I put computer in standby mode, some times it "wakes up" by itself. The monitor doesn't come on, it stays in standby mode, but the computer comes on, does something (HDD spins) and then goes back into standby after about 5-10 minutes. Is that normal??

There are some known issues in this build of the beta, you might want to try any of the following solutions.- Disable the automatic scheduling of Windows updates. Control Panel -> Windows Update -> Change settings -> Important updates: Never check for updates. -> Press OK.- Disallow hardware (like your network adapter) to wake up your computer. Control Panel - > Device Manager -> Network adapters -> Right click on a network adapter -> Properties -> Power Management (tab) -> Uncheck 'Allow this device to wake the computer' -> Press OK. You can repeat these steps for other hardware and/or follow the steps below.Robinson Zhang - MSFT said:Hi, I suggest you take the following suggestions to troubleshoot the problem. 1. Open a command prompt and run the command powercfg -devicequery wake_armed The command will list all the devices which can wake up computer. 2. Try to disable each of these devices above one by one and test the problem until you find the culprit that is waking up the computer. powercfg -devicedisablewake "device name" 3. Once you find the one that is causing problems, you can re-enable the other devices. powercfg -deviceenablewake "device name"

I expereinced a different problem with the automatic sleep mode:After waking up the wireless network adapter refused to work properly and didnt reconnect to the WLAN. Happened with a ASUS M2N32 SLI Deluxe MB and the inbuilt Realtek RTl8187 WLanadapter. On another PC with ECS-Elitegroup NForce4 MB and a Netgear USB Wlanstick Im having no problems. Works perfectly even after Sleep-Mode.

Welllll I don't know if this is on the same problem or not BUT!! Mine would not hibernate right after I installed then I checked my settings, after that it was fine until the last 2 days my monitor goes to sleep when it suppose to but the computer is still on and it does not sleep again. I checked my settings and they are fine but it stayed awake all night again. could it be picking up a signal from my home network or something along those lines?? I can make it go to sleep and awhile later it is awake? Maybe it is the Ghost of COMPUTER PAST"?Love Windows7 so I'm not picking like some I have seen on these blogs. I may not be able to afford to put it on all 10 computers I have like I did Vista but I do like it.chamblisstom@bellsouth.net

I have the same problem with Hibernate. System won't hibernate at all. I also had a Sleep issue too. I resolved the Sleep Issue, the system Hiberanted 2 nights, and now all it only Sleeps. I must be mising a setting somewhere. Is there a way to find what prevents hibernation?

C:\>powercfg -devicequery wake_armedStandard PS/2 KeyboardThat's it, just keyboard. I assure you I am not touching the keyboard. I did manually disable the mouse, because I have a keyboard drawer and when I would shut down and close the drawer it would immediately wake the computer...I don't mind if it does this, it's only awake for about 5-10 minutes, maybe less. If it's checking Windows Update or something, that's fine. It doesn't turn on the monitor so other than the fan noise my PC makes, it doesn't bother me very much at all really. I was just wondering if it's supposed to do that.

Any news on a fix for this? It's becoming quite annoying. It wakes itself up seemingly randomly, and does not go back to sleep, at least not for 8-10 hours (computer is set to auto-sleep after 2 hours too, which it seems like it NEVER does).I basically can't use SLEEP mode unless I know I'll be coming back to the computer in an hour or 2. Overnight, etc, have to SHUT DOWN.
