Standby doesn't work
Hello there,I have tried the standby or sleep mode in Windows 7. I'd thought that the team has solved my problems now, but unfortunately I've got the same problem again. The screen fades to black, my graphic card fan speeds up and then, the PC wakes immediately. I've dischecked this wake on usb ticks and then it had worked. But after waking up the PC mouse and keyboard are reactionless. I have to restart the whole computer that it detects the devices again.Could you please help me?

Unfortunately I can't help you, however I've had a less severe version of your problem. I can't manually put my computer into sleep mode - it just wakes up 20 seconds later without me having pressed any keys or moved the mouse, etc. When it does wake up, all input devices work just fine. The kicker is, if I leave my computer on overnight or leave it alone for an extended period of time, it automatically enters sleep mode and stays it in until I press a key on the keyboard.

Are you using a wireless keyboard or mouse? I was having the same problem where my computer would come out of sleep for no reason.. did a quick search in these TechNet forums and found that I needed to update the drivers form wireless keyboard and mouse, afterwards, no problems.... so far

No, I use a standard optical mouse and a standard keyboard, both with USB and wires. No wireless stuff except for my W-LAN.

Alright, this morning my computer wasn't in sleep mode, it was in hibernate. This is odd, because the previous two nights it went into sleep mode, and I haven't told it to do anything different. Additionally, my mouse and keyboard didn't work after my computer woke up until I unplugged them and plugged them back in. I'm not using anything wireless at all.

Hi Andre' Reichelt: Please open Device Manager, open Network adapters, right-click Properties, click on Power Management and see if the box "Allow this device to wake the computer" has a check mark. I had a problem with my Qwest router/modem constantly making contact with the PC over the network and the PC would start to go into sleep mode and then immediately re-start. Unchecking that box seemed to cure that problem for me and other posters as well. Note the checkbox Allow the computer to turn off this device remains checked. Hope this helps with your problem.

Hi,I have a vista notebook with an optical USB mouse that will wake up if I don't first unplug the mouse. I suggest for testing purposes that you unplug the mouse (even if you have a desktop) then put into sleep mode.T.R.
