Stability in less than reliable networks
I must say that in general, networking seems a lot better than in my previous XP environmentbut Windows 7 still seems todown tools when there are network troubles. On an 8 core machine, why does the whole thing lockup just because its having trouble finding something on the network? One particular issue I am having is that under heavy load, often I willhave a connection (wireless) but willlose communication. Ok, I think that isprobably the network driver/adapter/router (Netgear WN111B and DG384N) but when it happens I just cannot re-establish a workingconnection. But here's the real rub - when I try the good old restart,Windows 7 refuses to shutdown and I end up having to force power off. This happens every single time in this situation.Personally I think there should be more testing using the dodgy household grade wireless networking equipmentthat is the normin most homes.
