Spiking latency (pings) and intermittant disconnects on Lan and WiFi.
This issue has been all over the net and is effecting mostly the gaming community. What I wondering is has any MVP member found out anything? I can ony assume they are working on a fix. Any update?

Hi, Regarding this, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Upgrade the router’s firmware. 2. Ensure that all the drivers for the NICs on the computers are for Windows 7 and they are up-to-date. 3. Please disable the firewall and anti-virus software and check how it works. Meanwhile, you can also boot the system to Clean Boot and check how it works. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

Hello, do you think my router could be the issue? I have the latest and only firmware. disabled the firewall and I dont use AV software, no difference. My nic and wifi drivers are the default drivers from Microsoft Update, There are no others except Vistas and they dont help. I'll try the clean boot thing and get back to you. PS I even bought a express card nic thinking its my built in adaptors and nothing still the same. One big thing I see is I get graphic lag during sounds in the games at random times. This along with up and down pings 50 to 110 then back. With the new nic its the sound graphic lag that is more of the issue now. Ping is still spiking tho but a little less.

Tried clean boot and nothing. I knew there wasnt an issue there because right after I installed 7 I installed Call of Duty to see and it was doing it and it was. Something is wrong and Im tired of testing. Im going back to Vista and in 6 months Ill install 7. Thank God I got the free full version of 7 Ultimate from the event I went to because if I was to buy it I would have returned it already!

Hi, Regarding this, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Upgrade the router’s firmware. Oh keep in mind I have a duel boot, Vista and 7 and on Vista there are no problems. Sad days coming to MS if there still so many problems. I understand they cant build an OS to work with everyones computers, I just hope this ones better then Vista was because if people have as many problems as I have its going to be tuff. Yes I've had more problems but I am tired of trying to fix them. GL MS

Well I fixed the sound causing graphic lag, I had to install the Gateway Vista Sigmatel driver. The Generic audio drivers from 7 suck!!!
