Spell check in Lync
I saw a previous thread from 2010 that indicated there is no spell check available for Lync.  Does anyone know if this is going to be added anytime soon?

Probably not :(
You could extend the Lync Client and add that functionality yourself (Lync Client SDK)

That's unfortunate, but thank you.  Good suggestion though on the Lync Client SDK.  However, that is probably above my skill set.  :(  Hard to believe that the Lync development team didn't add spell check!

Thanks for your help!

Bit late on this thread, came accross it researchign for another answer. But if you are looking for an alternate fix Autohotkey can 'spell check/autocorrect' all your text including that in Lync.

I have not been able to get Autohotkey to work... the script for the spellcheck / autocorrect throws up an error message when it is loaded.

Hello,

Currently Lync IM does not have a spell checker.

But...whisper...i hear in windows8 there actually IS a spell checker when running lync client. ;-)

And in the mean time, using autokey you can kinda get it:

or phraseexpress: (thanks to Tom Arbuthnot for this suggestion)

Till windows8 ;-)

That's a straight autohotkey issue by the sound of it, so kind of out of scope for this forum. Try PhraseExpress or similiar, they are more user friendly options

cheers

Tom

agree Tom. Thot phraseexpress just might work where autokey didnt as another option. ;-)

Lync is an otherwise fantastic Enterprise product but I find the lack of spell checking to be a gross oversight for a company that builds it into so many of its products.   This is REALLY important for some people.

agree spellchecker would be nice. i think in windows 8 we will see it (that is a forward looking statment that might be wrong ;-)

until then, suggestions above are current options.
