Speech recognition language error
Whenever I attempt to start speech recognition, the error "The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the speech recognition control panel under advanced options." Under Region and Language, my Format is set to English (United States). My Current location is United States. My Display language is English. And my System Locale is English (United States). My Speech Properties language is set to 'Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows (English - US). I have tried setting all of the above to English (Canada). It didn't work. I set everything back to English (US). It still doesn't work. Surely somebody at Microsoft knows what actually causes this problem, what registry settings to tweak, or what dlls need to be replaced. I have searched the web, the Microsoft help forums, and this forum. The only real solution I have ever seen is to reload Windows 7 from scratch. I'd truly rather not. I need speech to work for a college class project. I' really appreciate the help. My machine is a Compaq Presario F700, dual core AMD, 2.5GB ram, bios F.1F dated 12/5/2007. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. It was an upgrade from Vista. Whatever information you need, I will be happy to provide.

Hi,Did you make any changes on the computer prior to this issue? Let’s try these steps and check if that helps. 1. Open Control Panel then Speech Recognition Options. 2. In the upper right of the Speech Recognition Option window click Advanced Speech Options. 3. Remove the checkmark next to, ‘Allow computer to review your documents’. 4. Click Apply. If the above does not work, go back to Speech Recognition Options and click Train Profile and see if you are able to Train. Failing that, click the New button and try creating a new User Profile with a new name. If that works, you will be able to delete your first profile. OR Change the location to a different one from what you have set. Reboot your system. Next, change it back to your preferred locale, reboot again. Now, see if the problem has been resolved.

I have the same problem, I get the recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Pleas change the recognizer language in the Speach Recognition control panel under Advanced Options. I tried you suggestion, no luck. Is there another download I need or driver? The message does not make any sense at all! Kenneth Wayne Hill
