Sound stopped working.
Hello. First of all I have a Lenovo Y510P Ideapad and have the Windows 8.1 OS. Now the problem stands. I use spotify to play my music, when suddenly it didn't want to play. I went onto my "Playback Devices" and went onto my speakers. I went onto the "Dolby" tab when I got a pop-up that said something about me needing to open a program called "RegDolby.bat" which I never found. Panicking I searched for the problem on Google. I found out that some people had a problem with this and resolved it by reinstalling their audio drivers. I did that and now I have absolutely no sound. I've been searching for solutions to this problem for the last hours now. All I get is guides telling me to use system restore, reinstall drivers, and such but nothing helps. Also, whenever I try to do a system restore I bluescreen and get a message saying that I "Need to repair" my system and then a location "/windows/system32/winload.efi". Please help I only bought this laptop some weeks ago and there's been several problems coming and going but this one I'm REALLY stuck on.

Backup your data and do a factory restore.

I don't know what the key is on a Lenovo. But you should be able to restore the Laptop back to how it was when you first got it.

Check the instructions that came with your Laptop.

Then after that I would do a full backup and/or create a restore point.

It sounds software related as apposed to hardware.

You could also go to the audio devices manufacturers website to see what other drivers are on there. It could be possible that you might have more joy with another version.

I've recently had all kinds of problems with a M-Audio Sound Card on my PC. Users have reported that they can get their card working on Windows 8 using the Win7 x64 driver. I tried everything but I couldn't get it to work.

Luckily for me it's not my main Audio Device. But I know what you are going through.
