Sound not working on most sites or applications, but works on some
For about a month my audio has been driving me crazy. It wont let me hear audio on most sites like youtube or any advertisements on sites (although that's not bothering me....) and isn't playing any sounds on some of my games such as Hasbro's The Game of Life or Portal, but it works on Bing video and my Sims games. But most annoying, I just bought Rosetta Stone (which was NOT cheap) and it wont let me run it because it says it "could not find a sound outlet" I just uninstalled and reinstalled Realtek High Definition Audio, but no change. I'm very computer illiterate, so if you could help me, please word it as simple as possible. Thank you!

Hi! Do you stilll have this same problem? This symptom can be caused by lots of possible reasons including, but not limited to Audio settings, Speaker settings, Software conflict, malware or even a simple muted video player of the site you are visiting. The standard process is to isolate this issue. 1. Make sure you have no malware infection. Perhaps you can run a scan using your security software. 2. Make sure your audio driver is installed (well you just did) and see to it that the right playback device is set to default. 3. Try logging in to safemode with networking. Once in safemode, access those sites where you don't have audio. such as youtube etc. 4. You may also install the latest flash player Flash Player 10 for IE (2.93MB) Flash Player 10.1 for Other Browsers (2.90MB) http://www.cesabarre.com/

Hi, Thanks for the post! According to your description, I suspect you didn’t install some player. For example, videos on YouTube are streamed through an Adobe Flash player. You can download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player in Adobe office website:http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinfo/instructions/ Are you using a built-in sound? Change another earphone to see if it works. As for the Rosetta Stone, please download the user’s guide from its website: http://www.rosettastone.com/global/support/downloads/user-guides There’s a detailed information, refer to its chapter 4.2.1 Troubleshooting sound. Hope it helps! Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
