Some of my MP3s have no tags in Windows 7 & WMP 12
I have read the other threads on this subject and I am getting nowhere. Using Windows Sync to synchronise the music files between my home PC (Windows Vista) and my laptop (Windows 7), I have come across a number of files that show no ID3 tag information on either Windows Explorer for Windows 7 or WMP 12. Having transferred test files between the two PCs to test if the files had changed in the transfer, the file tag properties remained the same - readable on Vista and not Windows 7. I then took a look at the problem files through a third party software recommended on this forum and discovered that the the tag types involved are v2.3 and not v2.4, which had been suggested as the root of the problem. As a result I am at a loss as to what I can do to resolve a problem that lies somewhere within Windows 7 itself. Do you have any other ideas for me to try or know when there will be an update that will solve this problem once and for all? Kind Regards Anthony Payne

This behavior is caused by incompatible tag format. The tag may be edited by a third party tag tool. If the tool is not compatible with Windows 7 there can be some problems. You may need to re-add the tags. If there is any issue when you manually adding the tag, you may refer the following thread. Windows Media Player Tagging and Explorer ErrorArthur Xie - MSFT
