Some computers running windows 7 can't access dfs share
Hi, I'm on a computer running windows 7, I'm logged on with a given user account. This user cannot access a folder shared using DFS. I log on another machine also running windows 7 with the same user account and she/he is able to access the folder so the problem is not permissions related. From the faulty computer I can ping the IP adress where the folder is located, DHCP settings are correct, tracert result is good so I'm stuck. Thanks for your help.

check user access control. In addition is the user listed as admin on one workstation but not the other?

What do you mean by check user access control? No, we have an Active Directory and the user is not an administrator neither in the domain nor in local groups on the machines. The user can list the content of the root folder of DFS but then he/she is prohibited to go further, I tried to access the shared folder using this type of path: \\mydomain\dfsrootfolder\sharedfolder Thanks.

I'm referring to the user Access Control built into Windows 7. I've seen this cause problems before. When you log into the Workstation that is not working are you able to access those files?

Even the administrator on site where the problem occurs can't access those files using its own login/password. That's what you asked? Thanks.

Are you able to ping the server? Is the workstation using a static IP? is the client showing up in DNS and DHCP? Is the workstation able to access other network resources, such as printers, internet, etc. If the site admin can't access the files via that workstation my first gut feeling is that there is a problem with the network connection or there is a trust relationship issue between that workstation and the domain controller. I'm assuming the files are stored on the DC. Have you tried removing the workstation form the Domain, renaming the workstation, and rejoining? Just to clarify you have Standard Server 2003 with Exchange added on. You do not have Small Business Server.

Thank you for your answers. It was due to network problems that we are currently working on.
