Software uninstall/reinstall
I am unable to completely uninstall my HP Officejet v40 printer using all the available procedures that I know of. The main component of the program remains unmovable in Windows "Add/Remove".Attempts to reinstall from the HP CD gives the error message "The installer has detected that that you have already completed the installation of this software".Entries of the software can be found only in the Registry and the Windows folder.I have considered manually deleting these entries but do not considered myself advanced enough to mess with these areas. Please help!!! Ideas:Programs you are having problems with Error messages Recent changes you made to your computer What you have already tried to fix the problem 1 person needs an answerI do too

Ideas:Programs you are having problems with Error messages Recent changes you made to your computer What you have already tried to fix the problem What are you trying to do?If the goal is eventually to reinstall (which you can't do now because the installer thinks it's already installed), try deleting the drivers using the directionshere . Reboot. If that lets you uninstall from Add/Remove, then good. Else ...Try either free Revo Uninstaller (carefully) or the Microsoft Installer CleanUp Utility . You should know that Microsoft no longer makes the Installer CleanUp Utility available, sayingWhile the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center. The CleanUp Utility is still recommended by posters in these forums, however, and Microsoft doesn't explain what or how was "sometimes damaged." As long as you're reasonably careful using it (at the least make a System Restore point), you probably will be OK.
