Software Restriction Policy on Win7 Pro Not Working
hello everybody :) i need some help getting the SRP to work in W7 Pro... heres my situation: I have an executable i wrote that would directly write into the registry the policies I wanted, I made it work for both XP and Vista (slightly differences) but now I want to try it out on W7 and I just cant... This is how i did it: i just took note of the changes made into the registry at the time i was setting up a policy... and by reading an article released by MS on SRP for XP. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457006.aspx) Now... My first issue is that i just cant (by an unkown reason, hope not to be a noobery) get any restriction to work on W7 using SRP (gpedit)... ...but if I load my executable that writes directly to the registry it does the job only for a .msi file, and i have the need to block a couple of extra .exe files... those are all hash policies. No matter how (using gpedit) i try, i create the policies but i dont see any changes in the registry, (like when u first create a task and somehow you need to apply the task later, but i just cant find out howto) or at least not in the same key were it used to work on previos Win versions (and where it gets to work when i run my blocking file)... any idea on how to get SPR to properly work on Win7 Pro? Ive heard AppLocker does_NOT_really work on W7Pro (but is there), no problem... but i just cant get the regular policies to work. does W7 Pro changes the path on the registry where the policies should be saved? (I don't think so but i am not sure, since my app blocks one .msi file) any document on how to get em to work? "advanced/expert mode" ? thanks in advance, any idea/tip/doc/link would be highly appreciated. peace.
