Smartcard Windows Login
I've searched this topic over and over but I cant find what i need. I'm in the US Army right now and I have a smartcard reader to access certain sites I need access to. When I use any DOD computer I notice that you need to use the smartcard to even login to windows. I kind of like this idea. How can I require a smartcard to login???

Hi, Is your machine in a domain? If so, I suggest you refer to the following articles: Services and scheduled tasks cannot log on if a smart card is not present in Windows Server 2003 Smart card is required for interactive logon Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability. If the machine is a stand alone machine, please open Local Security Policy (Type secpol.msc in Search box=>Local Policies=>Open "Interactive logon: Require Smart Card"=>Click "Enable") Thanks,Novak

You should try the open source eidauthenticate software. The ActivIdentity smart card is supported on a stand alone computer.
