Smartcard Error: The card supplied requires driver that are not present on the system. try another card
Hi, i am trying to test the smartcard logon with Windows 2008 CA, and Windows 7 (Ent edition) as enrollment station. i have configured the required stuffs on windows CA for smartcard certificate enrollment. i am using SCR335 smart card reader and Safenet smartcard. i have installed SCR3XXX smartcard reader on my windows 7 client. i could see the device has listed on the device manager. when i insert smartcard into the smartcard reader, it displays notifications like Token removed/inserted, which means the client has all the required drivers to detect the smartcard. now when i try to logon with smartcard, with inserting smartcard, my windows 7 client displays error as 'Smartcard Error: The card supplied requires driver that are not present on the system. try another card'. i googled on this error, and found a solution to install KB909520, i downloaded this KB and tried to install on my windows 7, during install it throws error as ' Not enough storage is available to process this command' and installation fails. can somebody help me on how to overcome this smartcard error.

Hi, A particular CSP is required to be present on a given machine, either to enrol certificates (strictly, to generate key-pairs) to that CSP, or to be able to use certificates (especially on smart card) generated using that CSP. It is not required to be present on the Certificate Server, not for the purpose of generating the certificate, that is. If you try to log on to a machine using a smart card generated using a CSP which is not present on that machine, you get an error: The card supplied requires drivers which are not present on this system. Please try another card. This applies both to a local interactive logon, and also via remote desktop – it would be rather surprising if the latter were not the case. Base CSP is already a built-in component in Windows 7. A new CSP in Windows called the Base CSP allows smart card vendors to write smart card–specific modules called smart card minidrivers instead of writing CSPs. Please update the driver of this smart card. Also, you can contact the manufacturer for this. Regarding the hotfix you mentioned, this hotfix cannot apply to Windows 7.
