Slow upload speeds across network
Hi, We have two Windows 7 64bit computers in our office of same brand and configuration. Both machines download files from a mapped drive at a speed comparable with our XP boxes, but uploading files is very slow, around 1 minute for a 15Mb file. Slow uploads are consistent whether going to an XP machine or a linux machine. So far I've tried disabling Windows firewall, unloading antivirus software, updating network adapter drivers (Intel 82567LF-2), toggling adapter checksum offloading, tweaking autotuninglevel=disabled (netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled), toggling remote differential compression, swapping network cables, plugging the cable into another computer (5s to upload the same file). I'm running out of ideas. My next step would be to install a second NIC, if I can find one. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Hi, This happens beacuse of trojans. Instead of disabling thr virus, scan your system and remove the trojans. That will fix the problem!

Hi, Unfortunately not. There's zero network activity when the computers are idle, nothing lurking in system processes that looks suspicious, nor anything showing under a virus scan. I realize this doesn't completely eliminate the possibility of viruses, but these are business machines and just over a month old. Apart from AV and Office 2007 there's little else installed. I don't think its a virus causing the problem. Cheers, Steve

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Restart the machine and enter in Safe Mode with Networking. Then, please try to upload files for a test. Does the issue persist? 2. Run a Check Disk on the current machine and replace some other files to upload, such as documents. Thanks, Novak

Hi Novak, I ran a bunch of other tests and isolated the problem to either Win 7 or the built-in NIC. All the network card settings seemed fine so I gave up and installed second NIC in both machines. This is far from an ideal fix, given that they are brand new machines, but in terms of time and resources it was the cheapest. They now work perfectly. I suspect I ran into an undocumented bug with Win 7 and the Intel DG45ID MB with the 82567LF-2 network adapter. Cheers, Steve
