Hello, I would like to ask a question on remote desktop. I am connecting from my 64bit Win7 laptop to an old XP SP3 machine using remote desktop through a wire. The XP machine is isolated, without any other network connection (nor Internet, Intranet, etc., only to through wire to my laptop). In addition, there is no firewall installed on the XP machine and the XP machine itself, although not comparable with latest PCs, has quite decent hardware and works smoothly. A big problem, however, is the slow mouse scrolling I have experienced on the XP machine. When I am browsing documents or writing code, it is frequent needed to scroll through the document, but there is always a significant lag between my scrolling and the response of the XP machine screen. To show this more clearly, I have captured screenshots comparing “free draw”/pencil in MSPaint.exe. On the Win7 laptop the curves are smooth, while on remote XP they are rather jerky, consisting of discrete points connected by short lines between them. Mouse pointer movement is not smooth in Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831172 Result: This hotfix doesn’t apply to my SP3 machine and prompts that the version of my XP is newer than the hotfix itself.
