Slow and fluctuating wireless
I have been having fluctuating but overall very slow wireless since installing windows 7. I have a Sony Vaio SZ440 laptop and had no problems with connections when running vista with my home and other wireless networks. Since installing windows 7 I have had very slow connection to my home network off a linksys router. All the other laptops in the house (none using windows 7) continue to connect at great speeds. Therefore it seems the problem is specficially windows 7 on my computer. Additionally, it seems my speeds are faster/normal on other networks so it seems to be an issue specifically with my network and windows 7. I tried a fix I read about that wrote to run the following command in admin mode in command prompt:netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled and it worked beautifully but temporarily (back to slow speeds after computer feel asleep and woke up). Using speedtest.net I get widely varying results, latest with a upload 3289, download 2152 kb/s and ping 75. Sorry I can't offer more, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi abus,Be cautious as when using a site like speedtest.net it is really checking the connectivity between you router and speed test. That isn't the connection directly as your machine is behind the NAT of the device. Are you using shared ADSL? What kind of tasks are you trying to perform that are showing slowness? Is it viewing of websites, downloading, FTP?

Hi Abus have you tried the Windows 7 RC yet to see if you get the same issue?

I've got the same problem, with a new Sony laptop I just upgraded to Win 7. It won't sign in to my home wireless router, even though the IBM Thinkpad on which I'm typing is sitting right next to the Sony. Appreciate any possible guidance. g
