Hello everyone, this is a slight continuation of my offline files question from before. As the powers that be have told me at work, I am unable to make "My Documents" available offline (as per their policy). That is all well and good, but my computers is incredibly slow when I cannot access the "My Documents". I believe it has something to do with the timeout while programs wait to see if they can access the network folders. My computers locks up for about 10 minutes whenever I: Start to save any file from the internet (firefox or IE) Open a document from my desktop (or any other folder) Click the "open" button in Word or Excel Essentially, whenever a Explorer dialog (file open or save) needs to open, it take around 10 minutes. Any guidance would be great Thank you.

Security programs will check each file during sync from a server so it will be slow. A browser may save a lot of files so each one will be checked. Try saving locally then copy the files to the server and see if that is any faster. My MVP is for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT, and I am getting increasingly good with Visual Studio. I don't have access to the server. I just want my computer to stop checking, or to speed up the timeout.

Hi, Please test the issue in Safe Mode with networking. Also update the NIC driver to the latest version from the manufacture. If the issue persists, you can disable rss, autotuninglevel and taskoffload to check the result.
