Slow Log-on to Windows 7 after SP1 installed
I have seen a number of topics about slow logins due to the solid colour bug. Mine is a little different. When I first build a machine the logins are very quick. However, when SP1 is installed via Automatic updates, the login time goes to 30 minutes. I am running a 2003 DC which is also the DNS server.Rob Morgan

Slow logon may be due to several causes: Wrong DNS configuration Applied group policies (scripts, mapped drivers, folder redirection ...) Viruses / spywares / malware programs Please make sure that the PC is using your internal DNS server as primary DNS server. Also, check event logs for more information about group policy appliance. If you suspect that this may be due to a virus / spyware / malware program then I recommend that you perform a full scan on all disks to delete them and then perform a repair install operation on your OS. There is nothing in the event logs. What is difficult to understand is why everything works before installing SP1, and on machine with SP1 yet to be installed, but it all goes wrong once SP1 has been installed!Rob Morgan

Hi, This would be caused by the software conflicts, you can try to boot into Clean Boot mode for test. Also, please create a new domain user account on the DC, and then logon with the new account on the problematic client to check if the issue still exists. How about local user account? Does this issue still occur to them? Try to fix this user profile to check the result, you could refer to the following article: Error message: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded”, when logging on to Windows 7 or Windows Vista Hope it helps.
