Slow Internet browsing after startup
System: Windows 7 RC x64After starting up and logging on browsing the Internet initially takes several minutes before reaching acceptable response times. Same behaviour intependent of browser. I use IE8 (8.0.7100.0) & Firefox (3.0.11/3.5). After the web page finally loads response times are acceptable throughout my logged on session. I'm on a wirednetwork and have the same problems in my corporate (domain) & home environments. Logging on to MSN also lags until web browsing is restored. Has anyone experienced the same behaviour?

I dont know about your exact issue but here are a few things that may help: 1. After performing these registry key changes, web pages will appear slightly faster as the number of simultaneous downloads is increased. Create a system restore point before making the changes. Click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings Look for two keys in the right pane, MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server. If they exist, then right-click on each in turn and Modify the value to decimal 10 (hex a). If the strings don't exist in the right pane they will need to be added manually. To add the two keys, right-click in the white space in the right pane, select New > DWORD Value, type the first name as the string name, press Enter and then repeat the procedure for the second one. Now modify the values to decimal 10 (hex a). As the registry key is a CURRENT_USER one, the change needs to be done for each user of the computer. 2. Also, turn off 'RSS Feeds' by going to Internet Options > Content Tab > Feeds and Web Slices > Settings and uncheck Automatically check feeds for updates. 3. If Internet Explorer is running slowly, you may be running too many add-ons. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Manage add-ons then disable any unnecessary add-ons.

I too am having a similar problem, which only started a month after having Windows 7 RC x86 installed. The only significant change that happened to any Services/Networking settings was the installation of Sun's Virtualbox. Initially, that took just fine. But about a week after installing Virtualbox, the exact sort of problem your describing appeared: boot up the computer (doesn't matter how long it's been sitting idle in Windows before launching the browser or email) launch a browser and for the first 30 seconds or so, there's a real slow period of looking for server, then connecting, then slowly loading the page. After that, it zings back up to normal speed. So something's going on with a related Service startup or something. I've checked the computer thoroughly for viruses, etc. and tried turning off the ESET Smart Security 4 firewall (which has been installed since the get-go and was not causing any related problems) to no avail. A little bit vexing, but it is the RC1, so wish I could be of more help. Maybe if MS sees the post here, they'll look into it.

We have resolved this issue. We had a beta version of F-Secure Client Security installed and this caused the behaviour at startup. After upgrading the software we no longer experiencethe issues.
