Slow, freezing, crashing, error messages, after updating from WINDOWS XP sp2 to WINDOWS XP SP3!
Performed a system recovery due to just turning on computer and it not booting. It would not allow me to do a restore so this was my only option. Then I started getting "Updates are available now" pop-ups and one saying it was extremely important that I update to Windows xp sp3. I had sp2 I'm assuming. I have an old hp paviliona600n. Immediately after computer was freezing, running slow, and would crash but re-boot. Now the monitor is actually shaky like it does when you have your cell phone next to it. I was researching on-line and found advise to un-install sp3 because it was no good. Did that..computer was still the same. Then did a system restore. Still the same. Decided to re-install sp3 and my computer was giving me messages to do so and to update. Now it is just horrible. I'm getting some strange "encryption..." messages when I try to open or move to a new page on-line. I ran a registry cleaner but can't afford to buy it to fix it right now. And sure enough the issues were: HIGH RISK: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\current version\app paths\hp intellimover demo MEDIUM RISk: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\folders HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\installer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\keyboard \quicktime\realqukebox HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\mediaplayer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\software\netscape\net navig\user trusted extern appl HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\viewers HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\realnetworks\ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\ \products(b923681dd4b1d804baceaec5ie) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\shellnoroam/muicache HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\activesetup HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\exchange\client\extensions HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\current version HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\control panel/extended properties HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\installer/user LOW RISK: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.3gp HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.m4e HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mp4 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mpg4 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ppi HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gup HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.sdp HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xpl There were but this is all i could hand write and it is definately not 100% correct but it gives you an idea. 2 people need an answerI do too
