Sleep mode no longer working after Windows 7 SP1
Installed Windows 7 sp1 recently and now instead of sleeping as per the power settings (which worked before sp1) the PC shuts off. When powered back up it shows an error that the machine was not shut down properly!
Tried changing the time from 3 hours to 4 hours thinking if settings were changed whatever went screwy may be reset. No such luck.
Any ideas?

Probably this was a crash during transition to sleep. Look at the system event log.
If so, you'll need to enable creation of kernel dump files and ask someone who groks this stuff to see the dumps.

some uses reported that hybrid sleep is the cause of the issue in Win7 Sp1. So disable the hybrid sleep."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code"

what is "hybrid" sleep???
it combines sleep + hibernation
if the PC looses the power it resumes from the hibernation file and you don't loose any data."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code"

have you tried this hotfix?

A crash memory dump file is not created, or hibernation does not work, when you use a SCSIport miniport driver as the startup device driver in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
