Skype have issued an update to their program which is designed to rectify the issues. Go to the Skype website and download the latest version Hope this helps PatThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi macklin Next? Plan B Uninstall the Skype software using the Control Panel, Programs & Features and let the uninstall process complete. Then REBOOT Reinstall the Skype software, either from the download of the newest version that you just obtained, or by downloading again. Once the download & install has completed get Windows to complete a COMPLETE REBOOT. Then all of the programs reallignments should be inplace and Skype should be fully operational. Change your status to online and away you go. Hope that this helps. Pat, Thanks, but still no luck. We have Windows 7, all up to date. I have checked that Direct X is latest download. When I try and open up Skype, the window states "Skype has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found" We have Office 2007, with latest SP. IE9 and Firefox. I have done all the rebooting and installing. There must be some other glitch, but I am at a loss. Any more thoughts? Cheers Mike

Mike, As this problem persists, then I think that it would be useful to re-check the version that has been installed. To do this navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Skype\Phone. Right click on the file SKYPE.EXE and then look at the details tab. This should show ver 5.3.0.116 According to Skype's website this version (when installed correctly) illiminates the type of problem that you experiencing as recorded on their forums.
