I have just installed the latest Skype on a 64 bit Dell Inspiron laptop and Windows 7 fully updated. The problem is that in Skype the microphone is marked as mute and clicking it to unmute does nothing. The microphone works fine in Sound recorder and even works in the Skype microphone test. I have tried rebooting the computer but that does not help.

Hi, After checking in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, I found Windows 7 64 bit system is compatible with Skype 4.1 version. Please check your Skype version. You may also check if there is any other sound issue encountered with the other programs.
