Skype for business compatibility with office 2010

Hi All,

Skype for business update released in April 2015, KB2889923, doesn't seem to be working with Office 2010 SP2.

Can somebody please shed some light on the Skype for business update perquisites for Office 2010.

Thank you.

Regards,

Rakesh Kumar

That's a Lync 2013 update, if you're using Office 2010 which may include Lync 2010, the update will not apply.  You'd need to get Lync 2013 separately.  If you're having issues with other areas of Office 2010 once Lync 2013 was updated could you post the issue your seeing?  I'm not aware of anything breaking with that specific update within Office 2010.

Hi Rakesh Kumar,

You may try the following suggestion.

1. Uninstall Lync 2013.

2. Reinstall Lync 2013 as part of the Office 2013 installation package.

3. Install the April 14, 2015 update for Lync 2013.

4. Check if the Skype for Business client works.

Best regards,

Eric

Hi Rakesh Kumar,

I suggest you can also post the question on Office Forum, since it's more likely to be an Office compatibility issue.

Best regards,

Eric

We have identify the root cause and now everything is working fine. We were missing office 2013 SP1 as part of Skype deployment which is mandatory to get it work.

Hi Shan,

If you have office 2010(any version) with Lync 2013 then make sure you do the deployment of latest office 2010 service pack(SP2) and office 2013 Sp1. do let me know if you face any issue after following it.
