We currently use Office365 with ADFS, and I've installed Lync 2013 - which quickly got updated to Skype for Business. Unfortunately, I can't get Skype to sign in unless I disable our proxy (currently hosted with Bluecoat). Bluecoat have informed
me that it's the queer way Skype operates:
"Skype is designed to be a peer to peer communication solution. As such, it can communicate over ports 80 and 443, but when it communicates over port 443, it doesn't necessarily communicate using SSL. For security reasons, the proxy in the Cloud checks
traffic traversing over port 443 to make sure it is SSL traffic. If an invalid cert is passed, or if no certificate is passed, or if the traffic is not 443 traffic, then the Cloud proxy will deny the traffic. Because Skype can communicate with any other node
in the world, there is no way to whitelist any number of IPs for Skype."
They have a proposed work-around, but it involves specifying a proxy so that the traffic can be correctly handled. While I see proxy settings mentioned online, it doesn't appear to be an option in Skype for Business - in fact, there don't appear
to be many options at all.
I assume this means that proxy servers simply can't be specified, and therefore we will be able to use the client?
Skype for Business client - specify a proxy?
