SkyDrive.exe error: event id 1000, Faulting application name: skydrive.exe

Symptoms since upgrading to Windows 8.1:

SkyDrive won't sync new files, e.g. files I've created in Excel for instance do not show in SkyDrive or, predictably, in other devices

There is no SkyDrive icon in the task bar

I keep getting the following in Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: skydrive.exe, version: 6.3.9600.16412, time stamp: 0x5243d370

Faulting module name: msvcrt.dll, version: 7.0.9600.16384, time stamp: 0x5215f944

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x0000000000007a6e

Faulting process id: 0x16f0

Faulting application start time: 0x01ced636efff9d54

Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\skydrive.exe

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrt.dll

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem, both after upgrading and after doing a full re-install on the same machine.

At least once an hour these applications do a "faulting application name" type of error:

skydrive.exe  version: 6.3.9600.16412

IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 11.0.9600.16384

wwahost.exe, version: 6.3.9600.16384

OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 15.0.4535.1508

Skydrive.exe is by far the most frequent,

My PC reliability history is 1-2 almost every day. I'll probably have to rebuild this new Lenovo T530 again this weekend.

please download this reg file from my SkyDrive:

http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/LocalDumps.reg

and make a double click on the file to import it.

When an application (lie SKydrive or IE) crash, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the dump (zip it first) to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take a look at the dump with the Debugger, maybe I can see the cause.

you have sync issues with the file Conversion Tables.xls

syncProblem = StreamError:SearchTextNotInDisk, filename: 'Conversion Tables.xls'

after this Skydrive calls woutput_s in a wrong way and it crashes skydrive.

I send Microsoft a link to your dumps, they should look at them.

Thanks Andre,

Looked at 'Conversion Tables.xls'. It did contain some hidden macros that I didn't know about. I just now deleted them.

Am I to understand that either deleteing the macros or excluding 'Conversion Tables.xls' from SkyDrive will stop the Event ID 1000 application errors in Event Viewer? I got another series of four today:

Faulting application name: skydrive.exe, version: 6.3.9600.16412, time stamp: 0x5243d370

Faulting module name: msvcrt.dll, version: 7.0.9600.16384, time stamp: 0x5215f944

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x0000000000007a6e

Faulting process id: 0x1d84

Faulting application start time: 0x01cedbc6da13a0bb

Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\skydrive.exe

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrt.dll

Report Id: 18500c7d-47c1-11e3-bf15-d4716ab3aad1

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

Again, thanks.

no, this looks like a bu in Skydrive. Wait a bit until Microsoft fixed it. Open regedit, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps

and delete to 2 entries (DumpFolder and DumpType) to stop dump creation.
