Skip app installation step in Windows 8.1 Preview

I paid attention, that in Windows 8.1 Preview was added additional step into installation process app installation . Is there any way to skip this step? I actually don't use any of Modern UI app at all. I don't need them and don't want to dirty my PC.

Thanks.

Hi, You can't skip that step. Windows 8.1 and 8 are based on metro UI. Metro Apps are not bad, and won't make your PC dirty. And there is now way to skip that step.

You can't skip them. They don't take up barely any system resources, and are a neat added feature for most users. If you feel so inclined, you can uninstall them after you finish installing the OS. You can uninstall multiple apps by right clicking (or holding your finger on each if touch) and then selecting the bottom option to uninstall

Yeap, you're right.

But in order to perform the complete uninstall of Modern UI apps you have to also execute the following code via CMD with admin rights for each of apps you want to be deleted:

dism /online /remove-provisionedappxpackage /packagename:Microsoft.BingMaps_2.0.1810.2025_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

This code cleans folder C:\Program Files\WindowsApps and can save about 0.51 GB in case if you delete all of apps. Otherwise the app will stay on your HDD even if you have had deleted it before.

Complete uninstallation of modern Apps can be also done by right clicking on an app, pressing uninstall and wait for few seconds, until the blue loader comes up with cursor. You're done. But the final answer is that you cannot skip the apps installation step.
